this totally looks like an advertisement for tea ...or maybe something organic lotion or something

great focus on the drop and the green is stunning!
the lush background puts me in mind of the rains we get here. (south texas) i feel all humid and sticky, but after a rain is a great time to get neat bug and flower/plant shots. everything's all pretty and clean and happy again...until skeeters come out. :-o

as great as i think thes image is, i think i'd like to see it in BW, darkened a bit, with a touch contrast to reestablish the shadows. OOooohh! what if you did it like a cut-out and kept the drop in green? my head keeps wanting to put more emphasis on the drop. i think because i kinda had to actively look for it. i suppose, though, that could be turned around into a good thing - only the people who are actually looking at your picture will know how cool it is. and arent THOSE the opinions you really want anyway? i think i do...
but i'm babbling... its what i do. soz. back to it.

i put a 3 on vision because you have cooler leaves than me and you spotted a really cool one! i like how it's framed to fit most of the leaf, but there's enough of it there to separate it from the BG
i put 2 on originality because its a drop on a leaf. its really hard to find someone who doesn't have at least 1 drop in their gallery... not that its not a good one, just a common subject is all.
i put 2 on technique because i think its just a smidge too bright and reflecty at the top of the leaf. i feel that if it were toned down just a bit you'd be able to see the droplets up there as well and help to further the organic feel through the picture.
3.5 points went to impact because i see a great picture that made me think of one of those big name companies and you didnt even really mean to! your image affected me. i'd call that impact. plus this was posted only how long ago and i was moved to full-on critique it? yeah...

all in all i think this is a super picture that could be even superer (ok.. so that's not a word, but you know what i mean). and really, dont take me too much to heart - i cant stand still long enough to get a good droplet shot unless i tote around the tripod and plan for it. but i know what i like and your leaf did somersaults in my head with all the different ways i saw it.:nod:
